Our extended study of Exodus leads us back to the New Testament and on to the ancient port city and commercial center of Corinth. Paul established this church and in his two New Testament writings to the Corinthians exudes a deep concern for their continuing embrace of both Paul’s gospel and apostleship. As we explore Corinth this spring and summer at Crestview, we will hear Paul’s apostolic counsel to these Christians and explore its relevance for today’s social, cultural, political, and economic context. Paul’s extensive defense of his apostleship will call us to reflect on what it means to live faithfully in the Christian community in a watching world and consider contemporary approaches to the ministry of the Gospel. Filled with challenge and encouragement, our brief visit to Corinth will both test and enrich our discipleship.
