Enter the Water, Come to the Table

Home MinistriesGrowAdult EducationEnter the Water, Come to the Table

John’s Apocalypse and Easter captivate the Church universal and the world with the reality unleashed on the cosmos in the resurrection of Jesus. Paul speaks of a present “new creation” (2 Cor. 5.17; Gal. 6.15) at work in the world and the Lord declares “I am making all things new” in Revelation 21.5. The redemption that comes about in the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus the Messiah sets in motion the renewal of all Creation. This “new creation” is simultaneously immediately present and anticipated in the ultimate redemption of all things. God’s “new creation” is experienced by the Church in myriad ways, but in its common practice, it is realized in the sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. This spring/summer, we will revisit these time-honored and storied practices in the Church (particularly in the Restoration Tradition/Churches of Christ) through this fine book by John Mark Hicks, professor of Theology at Lipscomb University, Enter the Water, Come to the Table. Our class will be held online each Sunday at 9:00 a.m. Check the Crestview Church of Christ Facebook page prior to class to either join the Facebook Watch party or live Zoom session. We will continue to hold our adult education classes online for as long as necessary to protect the health and well-being of everyone in the Crestview family, but especially the most vulnerable in our community.
